URGGH!!!! I HATE that! (Pulls face) Well many would say that the perfect pop song should be three minutes and thirty seconds. And that the chorus should come in before the first minute. I, however, don’t believe that.
What do you believe?
I believe the chorus definitely needs to come in before the first minute, if not the first thirty seconds, or before the song even begins as in ‘Bad Romance’. But other than that the chorus should come in quite swiftly without any fuss. But I have also been playing as much as I can on this album without constraining myself too much by always having the same structures. I don’t want the album to be plastic or boring. I found myself getting a bit bored with my own structuring on the Monster Ball. There was and is a formula that I have been using that I’ve used on some songs on this album and not others.

Thank you for finding that.
Didn't she like contradict herself ... like immediately? Kind of.
I'm not saying that she should stick to any formulas or anything. o_o
by any means, most of my favorites by her take the longest for the chorus (or shortest, like Bad romance).
But I just thought it was kind of interesting.
Like, JD/PF/LG/Paparazzi all come within the first minute and all of those did well on the charts.
Then Bad Romance (with the radio edit, the chorus still came before the first minute) and Telephone were the same and did great too.
Then she picked Alejandro, which comes well after the first minute and it's her first song that didn't get the pop #1 right?
Then with Born This Way, It got a pop #1 too, right? It was within the first minute.
Judas didn't (they played the intro to Judas that they didn't do for BR, so the chorus was after the first minute).
TEOG is kind of similar to Alejandro in both performance/chorus starting point. (and 3rd singles).
I think there could be a correlation to that, perhaps (and of course there's other factors, like the jarring production of Judas, the controversy)
Or the great video for BR, etc,,.
However, there does seem to be some sort of correlation to me. @_@
