Gaga (and the Haus) has been in control of her visuals from the very beginning. Making her own music videos is a natural extension of this.
I said it before and I'll say it again, you DON'T know what happened on set of TEOG. Maybe Joseph Kahn was a total asshole. Maybe he insulted a gay cameraman, and due to the terms of their agreement Gaga was unable to keep the same concept once she'd ditched him and had pressure from the studio to put together a video with the footage she was allowed to use. Possible, isn't it?

That Judas was a good video is YOUR opinion, I personally think it was visually nice but not her best at all imo...
Then maybe Joseph Kahn behaved as a total asshole and frankly I don't care that he stopped directing it. The fact is when a director leaves, you stop the shooting and wait for another professional to repace them! Not just scrap a whole concept and direct yourself when you have no idea what directing means...
