This travesty. This mess. This ****ery. What is happening? I lost interest after "Tyler The Creator." And BEASTIE BOYS? Oh my God. And I ****ing can't at Rihanna bieng bitch slapped like this. She comes out with Man Down, Only Girl, S&M, What's My Name, hell, even CALIFORNIA KING BED and did not get one nomination. She got 5 nominations as a featuring artist but I'm not here for that.
Kreashaywn.
Yonkers not even charting in the Hot 100 but being nominated for Video of the Year. That music video was awful and freaky.
MTV is gonna have record low ratings. Watch. This disaster has me PRESSED.
I don't intend to read all of these breakdowns, but I couldn't help but laugh at the shade of these nominations. I actually think they're pretty cool and it makes me go and see videos I hadn't seen before (e.g. Tyler, The Creator).
I told you in the other thread that Adele and Katy would be the It Girls at the VMAs this year. MTV was actually pretty smart. They knew every single poll was a war between Gaga and Britney stans, so they decided not to nominate them in key categories (VOTY) or pit them against each other. Not that they deserved it, by the way. I thought Britney's videos, especially "Hold It Against Me", were a total mess this era.
J Lo's ass had no business being nominated with that basic-ass video that is "On The Floor".
And as for Rihanna, the only video I would have liked to see nominated, especially in the professional categories, was "Only Girl", but she didn't bring anything special to the table when it came to videos. "What's My Name?", Mandown?, California King Bed? Seriously.
The video I wanted to see more embraced and wasn't was "Run The World".
As a Gaga fan, I don't think she gave us anything special in the video department, especially after the epicness that was "Bad Romance", so she got what she deserved. I hope this is a wake up call for her and finally allows real professionals to direct her videos.
Girl she aint bringing in no ratings. Just because people want to check for her music does not mean they will be checking to see her at an award show. This is America, we want Gagas costumes, Beyonces talent, and Britneys meltdowns at the VMAs, we dont care about nothing else.
Those moments are what make the VMAS. That's what get people talking at the watercooler the next day.
