The "Piece of Me"'s wins were like catch up for robbing her all those years and a whole "Sorry, we let you get up there and embarrass yourself last year." "Toxic" should have been her VMA story, not "Piece of Me."
Wrong, it should've been one of the most recognized and successful videos of all time, ...Baby One More TIme that should have been her story. Slave should have won as well. I am still heated that Ricky Martin with La Vida Loca won over BOMT as well.
They can. They have reasons for rewarding artists for things other than quality. What I'm saying is, it was Pink's huge breakthrough year as an artist, so that's why I think she got a lot of votes, even if they were undeserved. That's just my theory on her wins over "I'm a Slave 4 U."
If that's the case, they should have done the same for her during the 1999 VMA's when Britney was one of most successful artists in that year (she definitely was for females, I know that much). The same excuses given to several videos that won over her, they can be given the same way for the Britney videos that were denied its shine.

But Britney had a huge breakthrough year in 1999 and they didn't give her anything. Not even Pop Video for ...Baby One More Time which she lost against "Livin' La Vida Loca"
Best Female Video Christina Aguilera "The Voice Within" Beyoncι "Naughty Girl" Alicia Keys "If I Ain't Got You"
Jessica Simpson "With You"
Britney Spears "Toxic"
I wouldn't put it past the VMA's to nominate KP's, "Firework" over "ET" or "LFN" just to purposely sabotage her chances at winning the moonman for VOTY.

Omg you're so right. Watch them do that They're already promoting Firework on their site.

Right, but every year is different and the MTV seems to do what they want with some of their categories.
Why else did Britney lose to Pink in 2002? I can't really think of anything else. I can't imagine Britney being a victim of vote-splitting. Unless they weren't really into Britney and the whole teen-pop girls at the time. Christina didn't even win any solo/lead VMAs. She had to win with a huge collaboration.

I only see S&M and Love the Way You Lie getting something. Other than that. :-/
Me too. It sucks that the epicness of "Man Down" is getting overlooked.
I think it's ironic that MTV even still has the VMAs. They don't play videos anymore. The only way I see videos is via VeVo and YouTube. MTV should consider handing out "Mother of the Year", "Baby Daddy of the Year" and "Best Reality Star" now. It's ridiculous. I think about TRL all the time. I miss the old MTV. Do the VMAs even hold credibility anymore?

Their shady asses will do it sis....just watch. They'll give it to Eminem of Gaga and if they did, I would be PISSED if I was a Katy Kat. I still stand by Katy not winning that award makes the VMA's trash this year. ET or LFN or easily VOTY.

OKAY? And they have the nerve to use her name to promote their show EVERY year, even when she wasn't in attendance. All that just to get the views.
