Why are people forgetting people like Mumford & Sons? Not exactly them, but bands and breakthrough artists. VOTY is always opened to non-pop female artists. Florence + The Machine had four nominations just last year. 30 Seconds to Mars did well, too. For some reason, folks think MTV is only about these popular female artists.

Nope, no they are not. The professional or technical categories are still decided by people in the industry. As of 2010, those were Direction, Choreography, Art Direction, Editing, Cinematography, and Breakthrough Video. MTV would never change that.
