She said something in an interview that struck me as interesting.

GaGa said she "researched" what was being played in the dance community when she made Born This Way (the album).

Is it possible that she aimed merely for "dance" and purposely didn't make anything that was particularly radio friendly.

Not all club hits are radio hits. Clubs are also much more polarizing in regards to what they play, I think.

I feel like when she said that she made this for her fans (the gay community, the dance community, the clubs, whatever you want to call us/them), she was being entirely serious.
