I think she will get into Best Pop Album this year.
Bruno, Rihanna, Adele, Lady Gaga (But I have a feeling she will go dance) and another Pop album.
She WILL get in Best Rap/Sung for What's My Name? and Best Dance if she submits S&M.
That's 3 categories.
If only she had released 'Cheers' we would be looking at ROTY opportunities..
But I just want that Best pop Album nomination more than anything else.
I hope they submit right tho. I would be happy if they submit Man Down to Pop Solo. It's an outside shot but I think the Grammy voters would prefer it over CKB. I could be wrong tho.

Why did you ask ''really now?'' in the first place?
Whatever.

I don't think Jill has any big chances outside the R&B categories unless she pulls off a phenomenal era in terms of success.

I don't think Kanye is gonna get a nomination. The release date really screwed him over. But that doesn't change the fact he had the best reviewed album of 2010.
AOTY NOMINEES:
Adele, 21 (pop)
Bon Iver, Bon Iver (rock)
Lady GaGa, Born This Way (pop)
Beyoncé, 4 (R&B)
Gillian Welch, The Harrow & The Harvest
THATH has been getting amazing reviews and it fits the country/folk sound GRAMMY voters love (think: O Brother Where Art Thou, Raising Sand, Steely Dan)

Jill Scott probably won't be nominated in the GF, and it won't be because her album is "crap" because that album isn't anything but. It would be because they do not nominate R&B albums that do not have crossover success or sell well. I wouldn't worry too much about her. She will get R&B Performance and R&B Album nominations. R&B Song is possible, too. And I wouldn't be surprised if she won one of those.

I think that - or Coldplay subbing in for Foo Fighters - makes the most sense. Kanye is shooting himself in the foot with this second album within the eligibility period.

Because Kanye's album was not that good and honestly doesn't deserve any Grammys.

Didn't Janelle Monae get nominated for something like that last year? Her album wasn't that much of a success...

She got two nominations in the R&B field, but nothing in the GF. Jill will get R&B nominations. I'd be shocked if she doesn't. She already scored three wins there, and all of her albums are Grammy-nominated.

Yeah, Jill will get R&B Album, R&B Performance and probably R&B Song. Unfortunately, she won't win anything.

It is arguably the most critically acclaimed R&B album of the year.
More importantly, it's BEYONCÉ's most critically acclaimed album ever.
And it's a success - not the flop most were making it out to be.
She's going to get a lot of respect for this. She won't win, but I think she could pick up anywhere from 4 - 8 nominations this year.

Album of the Year:
Adele, 21
Beyonce, 4
Bon Iver, Bon Iver
Lady Gaga, Born This Way
Kanye West, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
Although I really hope Lykke Li is thrown in as an "indie curveball" much like Arcade Fire.

There are about five R&B albums that have garnered just as much acclaim or more than 4.
B'Day was also a critical success but failed to garner anything outside of the typical R&B/Rap fields. It wasn't until the following year she got a nomination in the GF.
I Am... Sasha Fierce was her least acclaimed album, yet it's her only album to get an AOTY nomination. That had a lot to do with her album producing multiple hits and having longevity.
I don't think you can automatically assume that she is a shoo-in based on the first week only. I'll place her in my predictions once I see how well the album holds up on the charts and see if this album will produce any big hits; right now, she has none.
