Yes she was respected more. I witnessed both of their success when i was a child. Guess what though. Cyndi Lauper had bigger breaks from discography and cared less for chart success after a certain point. "Hat Full Of Stars" was the album that made Cyndi totally irrelevant in 1993 but imo she asked for it and she chose it. Madonna on the other hand when she was about to fall off the "popular meter" instead of going alternative and artistic she went completely controversial and provocative. Back then ppl thought that was her end. To be more specific Americans thought that was her end. I am pointing out americans cause i think they are still so conservative and religious-driven with all that "country,family,god" trilogy in their conscience that is really scary even after all these years. That is what makes Katy Perry really successful
in the us. It is really funny to watch Katy Perry's singles' success. Proves much about the intellectual & cultural capacity of the middle american.
