Yes, this is rhetorical.
It's not that the songs aren't commercial enough, they're just simply not all that good, period. MTN, BTW, Judas, Americano, Hair, Black Jesus, Bad Kids, and Fashion of His Love pretty much totally suck. That's basically half the album right there!
GH and Scheibe are good, but are too clubby and not enough signature Gaga songs. It sounds like anyone could have put out those songs.
Bloody Mary, Heavy Metal Lover, and Electric Chapel are good, but too slow and ambient to be hits or make you want to play them over and over.
Highway Unicorn and The Queen are good, but too everyday and bubble gummy to have lasting appeal.
You & I is an excellent song, perhaps one of her best, but it's over a year old now and the album version is just not nearly as good.
Edge of Glory is another great song, but it was released too early, and it was followed up by one of the most underwhelming forgettable videos in recent memory.
What Nicole posted with that essay was basically spot on, and detailed more things which were disliked than Gaga no longer "being cool" or trendy.
It's amazing that Gaga's appeal is sinking by the day and a lot of you need to keep foisting all these lame ulterior motives for everyone jumping ship.
You really think Gaga is fun or appealing at all anymore, with her puke blue hair, clownish sorry looking fake moles, lack of personality, smiles, and humility, firing big shot directors in favor of her shaking her ass for LAG, and endlessly goosing her album sales with one gimmick after the next?
She's become a caricature joke, and it's as clear as day to anyone who's willing to remotely be honest with himself or herself.~
