Aside from crushing the album sales of the others, she's sold over 34 million singles, is in the top 10 list of social media presences, has ~500 million YouTube views, is one of the most searched people in the world on Google and is the third most searched person in the United States behind only Bieber and Gaga.

Everyone in the United States knows her whether they like her or not, and just because she's not a flamboyant presence in the media doesn't mean that she's not constantly in the headlines.

I think Rolling Stone is one of the few media outlets we have that can actually evaluate Pop music/artists and provide a legit review, one without showing a dislike and shadiness for the Pop genre like other "old" uppity media critics do all the time.

Well, they made it pretty clear this is the current Queen. They also took the time to point out the fact that Gaga is so far ahead of the competition that even if they added several more years, she likely wouldn't be dethroned despite the fact that she had absolutely no presence then.
