Agreed.
Not always, by a longshot.
Yes.
Yes.
Seems like it.
Maybe?
Did you have those thoughts every time she changed up her image, though?
Everything you said could be applied to TFM era as well.
Well, if anything, I would say with this era she has also cemented how important image is to her act, but your mileage may vary. I just fail to see how any principle in what she's doing has changed. If you just like the fashion/image less then that's fair enough, but she's never been aesthetically static, and that's been a large part of her appeal for a long time.

She wore the latex dress at the monsterball, in the telephone video, in the Bad Romance video, on Ellen, and in public. 2 Music vids and a tour full of it. The X nipple crosses, were everywhere. Like you said, the shoulder pads were everywhere.
TFM was also themed, it was dark. Notably dark.
During TFM, whenever she did something extreme, it was often repeated. The ideas were spread out through the era.
During TFM, The cosmo between performances two weeks apart was similar.
This era is not spread out, it's new image after new image. It's messy.
Again, she said herself you need to repeat yourself in order to be burnt into people's heads. She said the repeating of your image will make you an icon. She is
not practicing what she preaches.
