THEY Are standouts. All my friends ****ing love them too.
You all need to sit down because "Im a jerk, Wish I had the money but I cant find work" >>>>>
The worst lyrics on the album are by far Highway Unicorn.
What the hell was she thinking when she wrote that

A few of my friends think Bad Kids is one of the best songs off the album, and what is their favorite part? The chorus.
I personally love the song.

Feels like this thread is experiencing a severe case of meltdown, a few questions:
1. How many great female pop except GaGa Adèle and Beyoncé can sing live and have great vocals?
2. How many can deliver two albums of the calibre of TFM and Born this Way within 3 years?
3. How many can surprise us during almost all of their appearances?
Lady GaGa is one of a kind, yes she disappointed a bit with the TEOG video and few visuals, but DAMN she's a great artist, and you can feel that every thing she does comes from the heart...
And if you look at other singers having great success right now, I don't think the lyrics are more clever than those of Bad Kid, and those are on purpose simple because they are the translation of a "kid's" mind or thoughts ...

And I'm sorry if I'm being too negative against her... I just had to express my thoughts about some things that annoy me.
Still love her as hell

Its everything you DON'T expect it to be.
It goes from a bad ass intro, to hard hitting verses to a completely light chorus.
I actually laughed the first time I heard it because Gaga just wanted to piss people off with this one and it worked.

I think Hair is the troll song, if anything. For all the **** it gets it's the one that exudes the greatest degree of self-awareness in its cheesiness, IMO.

Her decisions to constantly maintain a stream of publicity, good and bad, which make her the mandatory mention in every news article because of the web traffic she generates are stupid. Her decision to release Born This Way first, even as we now see that it's likely going to be the most successful song from the album was stupid. Her decision to make the album less accessible to the public but instantly more memorable upon the first spin than her competition's after a thousand spins is a bad decision.
Whether she says it or not, I am quite sure she, upon entering the music industry, wanted nothing less than to become an icon of a magnitude the world has rarely seen. I'm quite sure she wants to be bigger than a few pop hits. I'm not even sure she wants to be remembered for one or two huge hits like Bad Romance or Born This Way. She is a relentless assault on all of pop culture, pissing people off with legions of followers close behind, distorting everyone's ideas of what pop music is and what she plans to do.
She pulls random **** all the time (Calderone) and it's going to become tiresome to criticize and resent every string of actions she takes that might or might not be detrimental to her commercial success in the long-run. She vaguely reminds me of a James Joyce quote, which I can only paraphrase as I don't really know it. Anyways, he said something along the lines of: "I ask nothing more than for people to spend their entire lives studying what I do." She is a maelstrom of artistic ambition and it's just too hard to tell if her actions are in her best interest at the moment or not. Who is to say that a decision that would bring her immediate commercial success and public approval in the present would be beneficial in the long haul? It certainly never phased a Madonna or a David Bowie during their prime.
|
She's always trying to be "different". I get it, but she lets it get in the way of being SMART. Which is way more important.
And does she not realize that, whenever she does something 'really artistic', she never gets applauded for it? Keep all that **** for the fans, at your concerts. If you're going to be 'unique' in public, be different not stupid.

Me too, it's light metal-tinged disco. And it's fun. It works for me.
I want it to be a single with a Tank Girl themed music video. Dreams of mine.

I actually love her lighter tone on it, it's just the lyrics that do it in for me.

That's just what she REALLY needs for her next album. Take notes Gaga.

And she can still experiment w/ some of the tracks.
But at least include 4 or 5 of those songs.

Agreed.
"I've had enough
This is my prayer
That I'll die living just as free as my hair
I've had enough
This is my prayer
That I'll die living just as free as my hair."
"I've had enough
I'm not a freak
I'm just here trying to stay cool on the streets
I've had enough."
"I'm just free as my hair."
"I am my hair."

Yes, but not The Fame all over again - some focus on "grown-up"...

MTN, GH, Americano, Scheisse, HML, EC, TEOG and maybe Y&I all fit those "not" criteria, though. That's 7-8 tracks.

Nicole, the album is called Born this Way, so yes she was going to talk about outcasts in this album.... It's not like we were not prepared for that...
You can't expect tunes about driking like crazy or having a one night stand with a random guy who is actually a monster on an album called like that...

Exactly. 4/5 commercial songs to make people buy the album and to stay high on charts, then she's free to do what she wants with the other tracks. Is it so difficult to find a good balance between a commercial album and one with an actual concept/meaning? She's so extremist sometimes.

I still can't believe she degraded herself enough to write Hair. It's so low brow.

I see the "The Fame" type of songs wishes are still here. She can do an amazing track without being "sexy and fun" à la Kesha/Britney - ie : Bad Romance / Marry The Night / Scheisse.
Maybe she'll do a track like that, but since TFM, we didn't see any Just Dance/PF type of track, so I don't think so. But, I wouldn't be against 1-2 tracks like that for sure. As long as the whole album isn't only about that because those type of albums, only about sexy and fun, don't do so well (TD, FF, Canibal/Animal). The exception was The Fame I guess.
