Why would that be applauded? Beyonce is not the expert in knowing good music. Clearly, she could've benefited from listening to her label. Both her singles have fared poorly in comparison to her past ones. It's when artists start to think they're above what the label says that their career starts to fumble.

I agree but Beyonce has had a long career full of hits. This album seems like she's just trying something new vs. a permanent direction she wants to take from now on. If it's the latter, then yes she's in trouble.

I'm glad Beyonce recorded the album she wanted, and may she be happy touring with it if the album does stall, but she was just being ignorant not listening to her label to go record a commercial song or two. It didn't even have to be generic or "techno dance music", but something with appeal. She is a Pop artist after all who's career is based on huge hits. Not being an "artist".
