When you are nominated, it means that they ARE all qualified for the title. It's like interviewing for a job. All the final applicants have the prerequisities that the job offers, but only one can get it. It's a popularity contest plus, the Grammy voters are human, they are prone to make mistakes. Im sure some of the winners that they chose in the past, they look back and reflect and see that they have made some bad choices.

Sales have nothing to do with it, critical reception does.

I'm just saying, while you're defending Kanye's album and disagreeing with how commercial success takes apart in AOTY (despite you forgetting that Arcade Fire won last year for a critical smash

), Kanye is the one who thinks the Grammys would have more credibility if they reward sales over everything else. It's just ironic, that's all.

Kanye is confused and misguided because he was congratulating NARAS for giving Arcade Fire Album Of The Year. It's very contradicting, his reasoning...

Especially since Taylor Swift won and her album was a best-seller and he named her along with Dixie Chicks, Herbie Hancock and U2 for winning over bigger commercial successes.

Regardless, I seriously doubt Kanye will win. Yes, his album is the best, but are people still talking about it? Not everyone reads Metacritic, and not everyone is a fan of Kanye's. And I don't necessarily think Adele will win it either. The Grammys do not always go with commercial or critical success. It'll probably be a vet or some rocker.

Oh I know that, but I meant that, voters rarely hand the big awards to hip hop artists. OutKast won AoTY but look how "Empire State of Mind" lost to "Need You Now" last year.

Hip Hop rarely wins in the general field. Loghen is right.

OutKast and Lauryn Hill both won for critical smashes... that had #1 hits and sold like hotcakes. You can't always go with what the critics say and not what the public says. That's like saying critics are more important than the public. Sometimes a mixture is so much better. Kanye doesn't quite have the success this time around like OutKast and Lauryn.

Which rockers even released albums this year that would merit a win? Please remind me if I forgot any, I just don't see it though, the genre is way too dead, Arcade Fire's album was at least amazingly well received. I'd be very surprised if either Adele or Kanye doesn't take AOTY.
