It's the upper part of a female singer's vocal range where the tone is resonating mainly through the head rather than the chest/throat. Think of the GH intro.
mirah, kelly, xtina, beyonce, and many more. They use it to hit higher notes. not a lot of artists can do it these days unless they were on Idol or something lol.

Good God. Lord knows Xtina doesn't use her head voice that much. That voice comes out like a cannonball from her diaphragm.
Gaga goes waaaay overboard w/ that acoustic EOG performance. A little restraint please. The edge, the edge, THE EDGE, THE EDGE, THE EDGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
And BTrisc0392 I don't need any technical terms for Katy's live singing, whether it's the verses or the chorus, other than atrocious. That says it best.

i have not heard her head voice since back to basic era, but she did it very well she use to use it all the time for Aint no other man performances.
It's a shame, really. Such a great instrument, and she's compromised it with her lack of control and inclination toward excess. I prefer her subdued vocals, like the verses of "The Voice Within" and "You Lost Me," so much more than the melismatic mess of a style she normally gravitates toward.
No. That is belting / the chest voice. The head voice is very delicate.
no i know what a head voice is, hello i stan for kelly kelly uses her head voice a lot
a couple of the performances i saw of it had the high head voice towards the end. I will try and find them.
