I'm not sure if they'll be able to get an album of the year nod. The buzz around that album hasn't been as strong as it was for the suburbs (which debuted at #1) and plus there are a lot of great indie releases this year, which will make it harder for any of them to be nominated.

As for album of the year, this is how it's shaping up so far:

Lady GaGa - Born This Way
Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
Taylor Swift- Speak Now
Adele - 21
Radiohead - The King of Limbs

And with Coldplay releasing this album this year, U2 maybe releasing another album, Beyonce's amazing album, RHCP coming back, just to name a few, I could see an artist like Radiohead and Taylor Swift not getting a nod for AOTY this time.

As for rap album, I could see both WTT and MBDTF both being nominated. Nicki Minaj should be a shoe-in, Lil Wayne will for sure get nominated (if the album ever gets released) and artists like Wiz, Lupe, Tyler the creator will fight for that last nomination

Radiohead is done in AOTY. The King of Limbs is less Kid A/In Rainbows, more Amnesiac/Hail to the Thief - it's going to be strictly relegated to Alternative Album, where it won't win.

I hate to agree with you but I do (only because I would looove to see it nominated). While it's still a masterpiece, it won't get enough votes. I think Beyonce may have just slipped into the AOTY discussion. It will definitely be interesting to watch this unfold...

I think it will be Kanye, 3 women and 1 alternative/rock band.

There will be some epic snubs come December. I know AOTY will be full of surprises. And I doubt it will be four women and Kanye. Foo Fighters are definitely in contention. Rumor has it, Shania Twain is dropping album. No Doubt has their comeback album, too. I'm on the fence about Beyonce's 4 getting in. I will have to see the reviews and sales for this album.

What shade? Isn't it a bit early to be declaring Beyonce as a strong front-runner for a nomination with no sales or no reviews to make any real predictions on her?

I still think Kanye and Adele are the only locks. I know the sales will benefit Taylor and Gaga and Beyonce is present, but I'm not sure the Grammys will go straight to those three again for nods.

I'd love to hope there will be a surprise (especially since I don't think 4 or Born This Way are AOTY material honestly) but won't be shocked if two of those three make it. Probably Taylor and Beyonce (they'll want a country nod) along with a random choice for #5.

Taylor's getting the Norah treatment; nothing but Country Album and Solo Performance/Song (for Mean)

Idk if this matters but Lady Antebellum is releasing their new album on September 13th. Idk if that's too late but they don't have as much buzz around them like they did wit NYN but they might have a better chance than Taylor tho it might be too late considering the cutoff date is around that time n first week sales won't be in time. Idk what do u guys think?

You never know though. With the huge overhaul and surprising wins by Esperanza Spalding and Arcade Fire, they might throw someone like Robyn in AOTY.

That would be crazy if she got in. I'm a bit surprised at the buzz Call Your Girlfriend is getting. This country ignores Dancing On My Own and contemplates jumping on the bandwagon with CYG?

Oh, question: does "The Moon & The Sky" by Sade go R&B Group or Rap/Sung cuz of Jay-Z? I feel it could grab an R&B song nod but since "Soldier of Love" was wrongly ignored last year...

And if Robyn scored any nods, let alone a major nod like AOTY or Song/Record for CYG....I might just die.

Ugh one more thought....what about Gorillaz' The Fall? Or is it too weird to be considered even for Alternative? I doubt my beloved Arctic Monkeys will win Alt for Suck It And See which is an amazing piece of work.

An AOTY nomination for Robyn would be just what she needs to get more public attention. I really do not think it's fair that artists like Janelle Monae and Robyn are constantly limited to the R&B and Dance categories, respectively, due to their lack of commercial success. If their music represents the best of the year, then they should have equal opportunity to someone like GaGa, Beyonce, Adele, Taylor, etc. They used to nominate artists like Monae and Robyn (see India.Arie), but they have hit a brick wall since then.
