False! Download Days are effective and serve their purpose, if done correctly. It won't make a song shoot to number one or top 30 for that matter, but it provides a much needed boost to the song. Gives something for it to build momentum from or on.

I am actually torn with that idea. I love it, but then I don't know... The Download day would mean conflicting TT's (one for the music video and another for download day), also an increase in downloads is always an automatic with the release of a big music video. Shouldn't we try to stretch the downloading time frame as oppose to combining them? Having the Download Day before the video release, you automatically place the song at a better position to climb up the iTunes chart faster. What's everyone's opinion on that?

I've noticed that download days never lifts a song high on itunes. If a download day were to fall with the video release date, it would "appear" as if it is "working," thus influencing excitement among fans and possibly encouraging other fans into the movement as well.

Longevity really depends on radio support. See TTWE...
