This was sort of my point, but I guess the Lady Gaga haters chose to ignore it. Best Buy mobile alone doesn't move nearly enough units that they think they do. People are acting as if Best Buy is the exclusive on mobile phones when kiosks at the mall exist, the carrier's stores and walmart/target, which sell it far cheaper. Like I said, our local Best Buys don't move nearly enough units, sometimes lower than 100 per week. I just don't think this will amount to much.
Second, I honestly don't think Billboard will count this toward the sales.
I mean, I do think this cries desperation and such, but I don't think it'll work to her advantage.

I cant at all the desperate souls that call Gaga desperate and then stay in this thread for 12 pages offering the same thoughts again and again
Anyway, her name and her face being plastered all over the Best Buy circular will bring more sales than this phone deal.  Glad Troy Carter is bringing innovative ideas for promotion while the others stay sitting on a couch talking about their album.

As you know, Best Buy is a massive store chain. It sells WELL over 200,000 phones in one week, since the phone market is huge and flourishing. And all of those phones (of all types) will be given away with free copies of BTW next week.

They give phones away because the phone companies are getting two-year contracts. Two years of a $150 dollar/month contract. That adds up to way more than $600. That's why companies like Best Buy and even the cell phone carriers themselves, give out rebates that lessen the phone's cost to around Free-$100. Because they're making money.
So, how would Gaga benefit from this? If she's in a deal for Best Buy to give away her album like ketchup and napkins, well I'm SURE that she's hoping it'll count towards her first week sales.

Clear Channel chose Gaga to expand online, hence all of the facebook competitions to meet her etc.
There was an interview with the Clear Channel PD but I can't find it right now.

This is my point. Do you think Best Buys company isnt investing its money if people get a bit more enticed to buy a cheaper smart phone if they gain money in the long run. The deal is you have to have a 2 year activation so there is an obvious profit being made. An 8 dollar investment for a more than 600 dollar profit if you get a cheaper smart phone is not unheard of.
My bet is that Best Buy WILL be buying the albums from themselves since it is seen as an investment. Theyre giving up 8 dollars in the short run to make hundreds later on.

Perhaps Billboard is taking that into consideration with its 450-750k first week projections. That makes me believe that without those sales, her projections would be much lower.
I'd laugh if she doesn't do much from that trick.

Go check the phone industry Bibliotheque. It's pretty massive in America. But it doesn't surprise me that you are ignorant about yet another subject.
Let me tell you this. If Best Buy was unable to move many phones in general (every week), then it would lose one of its core sources of income. It's pretty obvious they have enough customers to make sure they sell enough.
