The event album of the year isn't being played for critics before its May 23 release, but you'll find a full review on EW.com and in our next issue. In the meantime, here's a recap of the four singles we've heard so far, including her latest, "Hair".
Born This Way - Diva diso pop meets underdog empowerment anthem - and yes, echoes of Madonna's classic 1989 battle cry "Express Yourself". Grade: B
Judas - It seems like she's lost her sense of fun on this sobering tribute to religion's most famous backstabber. Grade: B
The Edge of Glory - A sax-kissed killer that could have been swoon fodder for a Top Gun montage. Grade: B+
Hair - Gaga advocates individuality through follicular freedom. Girl nails dance-floor uplift, but the teen-rebel lyrics feel boilerplate. Grade: B-

I see their grade for Judas went up from the B- it was like 3 weeks ago.
Seriously though, EW has been anti-stanning really hard this ear, condescendingly mocking her whenever the opportunity arises. I'm thinking the most we can hope for album grade wise is a B+ or maybe an A- (even though that's probably a stretch).
