“Run The World” is flopping and rightfully so, it’s a weak lead single, especially considering her talent, cause she’s capable of so much more. She’s my second favorite female artist after Britney, but I hate that song. I bought it because I support her, but I really didn’t like it.
I think the song is good but it lacks originality and a chorus. It's very Beyonce but sadly it's not something you release as a first single especially with the flooding of generic pop music currently.
I'm glad she tries to sound different with her new effort but that song makes her appear as trying too hard hence the low rating on iTunes. Hopefully the vid could save the song, although if it didn't, it would be understandable .
How is twitter NOT promotion. Alot of Bey stans didn't even know the song was on Itunes. Gaga,Britney, and Rihanna have millions of followers. If you thinking posting a simple itunes link won't up the sales, then you are mistaken.

You stans should get her to hop on Twitter bandwagon. It won't hurt her reputation. I know she will keep it classy.
It already peaked at #1 on iTunes, unlike some other track, a lead single actually.
"Hold It Against Me" and "Born This Way" (until the Grammy performance) had no promo whatsoever, yet they managed to become hits and opened with 400K+ in the US alone. Even though her last era widened her appeal, both in the US and worldwide, Beyoncé failed to do the same. She didn't even come close, she couldn't crack 100K. After all, she is Beyoncé. With an established fanbase, promoted or not, "Girls" should have opened with much bigger numbers. Even Katy, Ke$ha and Rihanna did it.
Twitter is NOT promotion.
Oh, and is comparing "Girls" to Lady GaGa's, how you like to call it -- ***underperforming***, second single, really the way to go? Compare it to "Born This Way." Although it failed to reach the heights both songs did, even "Judas."
We know Girls isn't doing as well as we'd like. You think we don't know that?
But it's whatever, because Bey isn't dependent on single success to sell albums. I'm still punching for Girls & hoping the second single will be more initially successful!
Good for those girls, but we know Bey is more Alicia than Ke$ha & she'll probably open huge with or without a hit.
You make it sound like Judas has been promoted à la Firework, which is obviously not true. The video has not even been out for 24 hours and it has already climbed 14 spots on iTunes. How's that struggling? Right, it isn't.
There is no excuse for Run The World its poor performance. Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Ke$ha and Katy Perry all managed to have their singles skyrocket to #1 on iTunes with the least amount of effort and no video. Why can't Beyoncé do it?
.
In addition, promotion doesn't always help songs rebound immediately. "Till The World Ends" hit #1 on iTunes, debuted high and dropped later, but amazingly rebounded later, after a video and a performance. Top 3 hit, great airplay and pretty good sales. It should happen to "Judas" soon too.

Considering it’s still doing better than her first single, why not? Let him be.

Are you serious?!? Dont even go there talking bout originality, when you got Mother Monster releasing Express Yourself and Bad Romance part 2
Still, Gaga and her team have promoted it and it's obviously not doing what they want.
Oh, not that poor excuse again.
Shall I remind you of Single Ladies? It debuted even lower than Run The World (may I remind you Run The World is Beyoncé's second highest debut after Naughty Girl?) and after two months, yes two months it sky rocketed to #1.
Now, that may not happen to Run The World, but I can assure it will jump loads of spots whenever the promo and video arrive, so you can remain delusional by saying she is flopping, which is obviously not true. It's doing well in Europe, and it's going to do even better after the video has arrived. You know how vital a video here is, let alone in the rest of Europe.
No, because Poker Face was Lady Gaga's second single as well, and it was a bigger hit than Just Dance.
Deja Vu 75,000 (2006)
If I Were A Boy 166,000 (2008)
Single Ladies 204,000 (2008)
Run The World (Girls) 77,000 (2011)
It was an extremely disappointing opening week, especially compared to those since the digital market has changed so much since then. There’s no excuse, since she had a banner too. Both "If I Were A Boy" and "Single Ladies" had much better opening weeks.
Beyoncé is flopping, you are delusional for saying otherwise. Yes, the video and upcoming promotion will most likely do the song good and will make it rise on iTunes, but as of right now she is flopping.
Exactly. No one’s saying it won’t climb back up, but currently, she IS flopping. There’s no denying it.

Saying she wasn’t flopping (underperforming doesn't even describe it anymore) was cute during the first week, but she dropped almost 50% in sales in its second week and more than 50 places on iTunes. Had she had debuted higher and climbed the next week, it would have been different.
I know she will sell albums anyway and I'm hoping for a great (and successful) second single as well. Oh, and Alicia opened big with "The Element Of Freedom" thanks to “Empire State Of Mind.”
I completely agree. I was looking forward to see what her new single would sound like and I hoped she would positively suprise me, but I was extremely dissapointed. It sounded dull and to be honest, I might have not even given the song more than 5 spins.
What annoys me the most is the over-sampling. It sounds almost exactly like "Pon De Floor."
Still, Gaga and her team have promoted it and it's obviously not doing what they want.

Quit making out that Single Ladies flopped just to make RTT look better. Single Ladies debuted from airplay alone and then reached #1 after the digital release. Comparing it to RTT is a joke
But I wouldn't expect you to be the one to throw shade
Bey will win in the end, this is known. But enjoy while it lasts.

She'll pull through though, not too worried.
You guys dragged Britney for filth because of the performance of both of her singles and album too this era, and she was and still is doing light miles better than Beyoncé is. I'm not here for double standards.
I've never said she won't, but the undeniable fact is that she's flopping at the moment.
