I understand many of you will not read this whole thing, however, I have come up with the 3rd single for Femme Fatale. Read at your own risk.

OBVIOUS CHOICES
I Wanna Go
THE PROS
- Summery, fun! Good beat.
- Great hook with the whistles.
- Radio friendly.
- No featuring artist (currently) present. This will put focus back on Britney controlling her own success.
- Fun subject matter. Maybe a bit of
controversney?
- Max Martin hasn't been represented with a single from Femme Fatale yet.
- Charted nicely on iTunes with no promotion.
THE CONS
- Horrible bridge.
- Can become repetitive in a bad way.
- Very similar to TTWE.
- No climax, no evolution, no build to the end of the track.
The Big Fat Bass (Ft. will.i.am)
THE PROS
- THREE hooks!
- Simple chorus, catches on easily.
- Club smasher along the lines of 'OMG' (the hooks) and 'Boom Boom Pow' (bass driven beat).
- Radio friendly.
- The song builds nicely to will.i.am's breakdown (Ya'll betta get ready for the kick drum).
- will.i.am featuring with a solid breakdown
THE CONS
- will.i.am featuring....it would be ANOTHER Britney featuring track.
- Could become repetitive in a bad way.
- Too long, what would the radio edit cut out?
- Charted poorly on iTunes despite publicized performance on Good Morning America.
DARK LEONA HORSE CONTENDERS
Seal It With A Kiss
THE PROS
- The song builds nicely to the dubstep breakdown.
- Great music video potential!
- Very summery!
- Catches on lyrically. Easy chorus.
- Great hook (though another "Ooooh" hook).
THE CONS
- In the realm of Hold It Against Me with heavy dubstep.
- Another Dr. Luke/Billboard produced single (though Max wrote).
How I Roll
THE PROS
- Fresh, original and different for radio like Toxic.
- Great hooks!
- A fairly innocent song (aside from the ****/Thug debate...the word may be radio censored regardless).
-
THE CONS
- Aside from the hooks, the song doesn't catch on lyrically.
- Radio friendly?
- Would need heavy promotion to convince the public to buy.
PROGNOSIS
This third single is
REALLY important. It would be the difference between this era ending and this era continuing on in terms of singles. The 3rd single needs to be a self sustaining hit for the majority of the tour. Third singles have been the kiss of death for Britney's last two era's...so this needs to come hard! It won't have the luxury of a lead single, or a single before the CD's release.....so the song has to be fresh!
I really feel like it will come to I Wanna Go or The Big Fat Bass with Seal It With A Kiss the one dark horse contender. Since IWG is too much like TTWE, and SIWAK is in the relam of HIAM....I think TBFB is going to be released. The clubs will help keep the song afloat, and for some reason, the radio's love will.i.am in the summer.
The Big Fat Bass is a easy song to sing a lot to, and the radio edit will reduce some of its repetitiveness.
I Wanna Go is good, but it seems a bit generic...there is also no growth with the song. You either love it, or grow bored with it. People may not like TBFB at first...but at least it will grow on you over time...there will be an evolution with the song....growth.

Curiously enough, though, the token will.i.am track on Femme Fatale is the most old-school work here, a deeply silly chant-along in which Britney declares she "could be the trouble" and "you could be the bass" ("Big Fat Bass"). Do you see what they did there? The bass, of course, grows ever more tumescent.

Even the will.i.am track ‘Big Fat Bass’, which sounded unbearable on first listen and seemed likely to reinforce will.i.am’s reputation for turning in the worst tracks on otherwise amazing female-fronted pop albums – sounds great. We made notes on the songs one by one and had prepared the title ‘Big Fat Pile Of Shit’ in anticipation of this song starting but, halfway through, we’d crossed that out. It was surprisingly bearable partly because the second clip that emerged is a far better reflection of the track and partly because the rest of the album makes sense of it.

...If not for its infectious pre-chorus whistle, "I Wanna Go" would be just another song off the Max Martin assembly line.

Her horribly high-pitched, child-like vocals on the unlistenable "I Wanna Go" are reminiscent of, terrible imaginary pop star in The Last Dragon, Angela Viracco. The producers only make matters worse by chopping up the bad vocals and adding a tacky whistled harmony in the background.

It's the simple touches that make "Femme Fatale" memorable. The whistles accompanying Spears in "I Wanna Go" and the flutes in "Criminal" help to set the songs apart, largely thanks to Spears' longtime producer Max Martin.
.....
The only major party foul is "Big Fat Bass," which is ruined by an obnoxious Will.i.am introduction. It's an unnecessary song that shows why Spears is more than capable of handling her work solo. Any of the deluxe edition's bonus tracks, particularly "He About To Lose Me," which features less vocal retouching than most of the other songs on "Femme Fatale," would have fit better than "Big Fat Bass."

I have to admit – I was rather resistant toward “Big Fat Bass” from the get-go having known it was produced will.i.am. He always seems to takeover the tracks he produces for other people and makes it more about him than the main artist. However, this is probably one of his better track. “Big Fat Bass” is sort of this album’s “If U Seek Amy” with the sexual innuendos: “the bass is getting bigg’a … the bass is gettin’ bigg’a!” she announces after a chorus of “You can be the treble, baby, I can be the bass.” Britney exudes confidence on the track and the only part I didn’t dig was the part where will.i.am forced himself into the song with an unnecessary solo/rap section. He seems to do this on every track he produces and it really feels unprofessional and had me rolling my eyes as it was clear he was trying to have a moment and steal the spotlight from Britney (on her own album).
(Cites I Wanna Go and TBFB as standouts)

Finally, I believe that
Criminal will be the only TRUE Max Martin single....it's a brilliant song with a beautiful climax and Britney actually sings...with amazing vocals at the end.
