Lol no...I was on wikipedia randomly one day and I learned about Chavacano and Zamboanga City, and I wanted to know what the language sounded like cause it comes from Spanish . That song was the first thing I found I've loved it ever since...I guess it is a pretty random song to find though lol

Good to know that a foreigner takes pleasure from listening to OPM: as a certain number of people in this thread do from international artists, and wallow in bashing their own (which I'm guilty too, occasionally).

The Philippines is the land of the bands, and if you're fascinated by rock, pop rock, band music, give it a go. I suggest for starters The Eraserheads.

Considering the names you've given (Maldita, Nina) - female artists - how about Kyla? Sarah Geronimo? (LOL.) They're the "current," most prominent, around MYX.

Nina is the ONLY OPM female artist I'll recommend though.
