Britney has a HUGE stanbase (vs Beyonce having a bigger casual fanbase nowadays, I think) that'll make anything go #1 for at least a week. Whether alberm, single, or tampon line.
Katy, Rihanna, Ke$ha... those girls can barely go platinum & have a hard time going double platinum with their albums. They appeal to the 14 year old that sit on iChunes waiting for their songs to be released but can't drive a car to Best Buy to pick up the album.
Gaga is hot right now and has bandwagon stans that can get her the alberm sales & the iChunes rocket #1s.
Beyonce does have huge hype around her or her song wouldn't have 13k votes in 3 days & the other stanbases wouldn't be working so hard to shoot this song down. Beyonce ain't doing **** right now. Columbia ain't doing **** except putting pretty turban pics of Beyonce on iTunes. Also, for a lot of Bey stans such as myself this is our first time buying a single rather than just a whole album. We're getting our feet wet with this stuff but some others are still opposed to it, opting not to buy the single & just waiting on the album to be released. So far the performance of the song is dependent on the Beyhive coming together and pushing for it. NONE of us expected this song to rocket to #1, but we're working as hard as we can until Beyonce stops riding camels in France and actually gets on her ****.
