She's only gaining momentum now that CKB has reached Top 5 on iTunes New Zealand and Top 10 in Australia (off radio play alone), and reached top 30 in the US with no radio exposure. She already has a monster hit (S&M) + the remix on iTunes right now, so of course the general public wouldn't be falling over themselves to buy a song they aren't familiar with. Radio exposure is what sells the songs, not a 3 minute performance.

But you're failing to acknowledge Honey Bee had an ad on iTunes that week and the CMA's were her core audience. A very small percentage of the CMA viewers even listen to Rihanna's songs, let alone go on iTunes and buy them. Bottom line is those two performances are not gonna make the general public familiar with the song. It doesn't have a video, it doesn't have any radio play. Stop reaching.

How can you say "Katy's only on her second album" and then try to say "let's compare OOTB to MOTS or AGLM"? If anything, Rihanna being on her FIFTH album and still having healthier album sales makes HER look better, not Katy, since she's lasted 5 years and is still gaining popularity. Katy has had four number one singles, four number one radio hits, all huge digital sellers, with a relentless promotional campaign and has only sold 100K more than Rihanna in the US despite being 3 months older. People don't need to bring Katy down to bring up Rihanna and vice versa. But at the end of the day, LOUD is doing much better than Teenage Dream, even with Teenage Dream having bigger hits.

Rihanna is a timeless artist. She's in the music industry for more than 5 years now and is still successful. Even though she releases singles from time to time, people are not getting tired of her and they support her music. She will be the next Madonna or ever better.

It wasnt a shady post to rihanna ,but a shady post fullstop. Second you seem to forget , she had a previous album before OFTB as katy hudson just because she didnt have hits does not mean we can brush it aside
Lastly no one is taking away katy's success, she has done amazing and believe or not am a fan of hers but to compare and say she is on the same level as rihanna is going overboard. As of now rihanna is still ahead of katy but who knows ,what the future holds for the both of them
