That was physical CD sales, not other, irrelevant digital retailers. And I'm not saying it's in the bag, but Amazon/WalMart/Target (), etc. wouldn't be the cause for it not reaching their.

Just because they don't represent 70%+ of the market share doesn't mean they are "irrelevant." They could make a difference in closer than normal races. Wasn't J. Lo #1 all week on iTunes but BTW ended up being the #1 song on the digital song chart? That was just a month ago. Maybe Amazon, Target, Rhapsody, etc. are not significant deal-breakers, but they are not necessarily "irrelevant." After all, we don't know what each song sells on each of those sites.

To be perfectly honest, iTunes does not deserve to have that large of a share. Their products are severely overpriced, and Amazon has made their services more innovative with the recent introduction of the cloud service.
