Of course she has Rap/Sung as long as she remains the hottest feature girl. But all chances of nailing a pop or R&B solo nom are now totally gone. Out the window. I can't see her being a returning Dance Recording champ. "Only Girl" only won because it was an extremely weak category. Her biggest competition was Gaga who was nominated for an album cut.

Actually, last year's Best Dance Recording category was the strongest in recent memory; any of those songs could have won (and logically, Gaga was in third place, behind #1 single Rihanna and critical fave Robyn).

THIS YEAR, however, is shaping up to be SUPERWEAK.

Rihanna and Gaga and possibly La Roux (because of the album nod) were the only ones who stood a chance IMO. Robyn was probably ignored because of her depressing sales.

Right. I forgot about them. But La Roux had a huge breakout year so if it was going to be a D/E A nominee it would have been them.

Janelle also got snubbed. I think the only reason AF won was because of lots of things that wound up in their favor. Gaga and Katy stole each other's vote, they don't ever want Eminem winning in the big categories, and country fans didn't want Antebellum representing over Lambert (and rightly so). They probably squeaked by with just over 20%. They didn't even win for their genre.

The Black Keys probably would have won AOTY just based on that. AF got lucky, but their win was deserved

And the Pop Group/Pop Collaboration thing isn't too bad. This is how it was up until 1995.

There was no Rock or R&B Collaboration category. Picture how many R&B groups got snubbed because out-of-the-ordinary collaborations were in contention?

Pop Collaboration is such a useless category because they fill it with a bunch of songs we never even heard of it, which end up winning.

And the committee needs to be more stricter with submissions like "California Gurls" going Pop Collaboration/Group. Songs like that should be submitted to Rap/Sung Collaboration. No exceptions.

I love B.o.B, but yes, submissions like this should be avoided in the future. I agree with it as a strategy and a way to get more nominations since he submitted and was nominated for "Nothin' on You" in Rap/Sung Collaboration, but it technically should have been submitted to Rap/Sung Collaboration under my new "dream" rules.

I personally think he should have sent "NOY" to Urban/Alternative (surely it would have picked up a nod there?) and then "Airplanes" to the rap field. But what's done is done, I guess. I'm just one of those people who dwells on submission errors of the past.

Solo Pop will obviously be more difficult, but if something like "California King Bed" were submitted, I could see them nominating her as well.

I only see her getting into ROTY with a rap/sung these days. She was nominated twice, only one of those was for a song in her catalogue. And that was a once-in-a-career thing, because that song was ****ing massive and the definitive pop song of 2007.

I don't hate Rihanna. I just don't think she has another shot at ROTY unless she does a "LTWYL"-type song again. And that's not hate, that's common sense.

I'm aware that she's a Grammy winner, but her count probably isn't going to go up much higher now that the races are all tighter.
