ROLLING STONESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
no Oprah sit down interview though.
it's all about the music this era
No Rollingstone cover? Who cares about an interview if people don't see her on the cover knowing that she's inside? No Oprah interview or appearance? Okay, F*CK YOU Mark Flaherty and JIVE/SONY! There is absolutely no excuse why she can't do an Oprah interview, much less appear on one of the most watched television shows in the world. I am seriously too through with Jive and her management after reading this statement from the article.
Quote:
Mark Flaherty, a senior marketing vice president at Spears' label Jive, "There's not really going to be that sit-down with Oprah. This time around, it's going to be her showing up and doing what she does better than anybody- which is to perform."
If I could slap this man right now, I would so do so. Britney is no where near the performer she once was; they know it, we know it, and hell..Britney knows it. We're all fine with that, but to deny us such things that would only enhance this era instead of crippling it, NO EXCUSE! I am seriously starting to believe that Jive and Britney's management are purposely trying to ruin not only this era, but her career as well. I am not pleased and honestly just don't get it.
It's kind of obvious that Britney doesn't want an invasive interview though. They can't force that and they shouldn't.
Britney not wanting to talk in depth about things face to face. That's nothing new. We've known that for a while now. It's kind of obvious that she wants to get as far away from her breakdown period as possible. Hence the fielding of questions, her handlers ushering questions and monitoring the interviews.
She and her people want to forget about it and they want everyone else to as well, or if not forget about it they don't want anyone to ask her about it. Which is pretty much the same thing in terms of publicity. There is going to be a point where it's just going to look odd when an interviewer asks her questions about what happened 5 or 6 years ago. I think she is waiting for that moment. The moment where she can go anywhere and just sit down and not be drilled about her breakdown, if she wants to be in the public eye at all. The breakdown will just be old news and no interviewer is going to go that far back and drill her on what happened 5-6 years ago. It's a lot like how they never ask her questions about Justin anymore. That part of her life is over, and she is in a different head space. It's not relevant or timely anymore so it's not news.
I also think Britney just wants her private life private now more so than before and that has to be respected. We may never get that in depth emotional interview anyway. At least not like before. She is fine with the documentaries she makes (Stages, I Am Femme, Chaotic, For The Record) but that's it and honestly that should be enough.
Matthew Knowles: Matthew Knowles here! Foxay: Matthew, I have a HUGE propsition for you. Matthew Knowles: I am all about a good business deal, what you got for me? Foxay: I heard about your recent business departure with your daughter (LOVE YA BEY, can't wait for the new album girl), Beyonce. What would you say about about managing...BRITNEY SPEARS? Matthew Knowles: You're kidding? I'll say where is the contract for us to sign and make it official and legally binding? Foxay: EXCELLENT!! Now talk to me about ideas you would have for her as head manager. Matthew Knowles: Well firstly, I will get her press release numbers updated. To have the worldwide figures she has and not have them properly showcased is an injustice to her and the success she has garnered over the years. Next, we plan a full GLOBAL takeover in a PR blitz to generate buzz about new singles, album, tour, and commercial brands. I'm talking Oprah, The View, Letterman, Leno, Jimmy Kimmiel Live, American Idol, Dancing With the Stars, ALL major award ceremonies (dressed down in nothing but the best with full interviews on red carpet...or brief ones depending on her mood, but not doing interviews isn't an option), The Ellen Show, SNL, radio interviews, autograph signings in front of major cd vendors, international promo in Latin America, Asia, and throughout Europe. The Tour will touch down in EVERY continent besides the Antartica. That's just a brief set of what we would do. Did I mention not having songs written by her on the album isn't an option? Foxay: YOU'RE HIRED!!!!

Im fine with her not doing a sit down type Oprah Interview!!
but if shes is going to perform! She needs to bring it hard!!!! no more lazy danceing!!!
She needs to kill! and she really hasn't!!! I kinda thought that she would come harder! since there is alot more competition in the female pop world! but the era is just beginning so here is to hoping for the best!

I'm thinking there's a possibility of the cover down the line, but it's no use then. When it concerns first week sales that is.
This is her last album under contract with Jive (unless she signs a new one). So of course they're not trying to put effort into her anymore. Which while sad just proves how ****** they are when it comes to handling Britney's career nowadays. If & when Britney makes a new album it needs to be on her terms exactly a la Blackout (or the unreleased possible masterpiece Original Doll) on a new label that not only will respect her vision, but her as an artist. Because this era as a whole could've been handled better. But, maybe it'll turn around for the better.

But the thing is she doesn't have to answer such questions if asked and her team can make that as one of the off-topic subjects before it happens. You just ask for the next question till it's to your liking. The breakdown won't just go away and the public won't just forget about it. The coverage and cultural impact of her breakdown is sadly a Pop culture bookmark that shall live on even past her death. People still ask her about Justin, she was asked about it in For The Record and talked about it a little without giving away anything.
There is a way to keep your private life private and your professional carrer blooming. Beyonce does it magnificently while managing to do such high profile interviews. If she doesn't like the question she'll talk around it or just make a new question appear to her satisfaction. I don't think Britney has a problem doing interviews, not all of them have to be some kind of deep and profound interview. Honestly, her documentaries are no different than those sit down interviews. The same questions and topics are brought up and discussed, but to each its own. I think it's Britney's camp that has no faith or confidence in Britney anymore.

The thing is, if this is Britney's last album with you as a record company, wouldn't you do EVERYTHING humanly possible to make this the best era possible? Pleasing not just fans, but the artist as well? You would want to do everything possible to satisfy that artist to make sure they sign another big deal with you. Jive can't afford to lose Britney and that's the truth, she's their biggest money maker. Britney leaving Jive will cripple them severely. They'll be left with Justin and Chris Brown to keep them afloat.

Drop Dead (Beautiful) has been steady in and out of the top 100. I really think it'll be a single eventually, hopefully not the 3rd, but later down the road.
