When sales are real-time, you're always going to have "rolling" effects (you can call it any way you want). You're always going to have to look back from the current moment to history (with iTunes it's 48 hours if I recall correctly). So the remix wasn't available for a day or so, and that day is still entirely within these 48 hours. That's why the song will gain quickly once at least 48 hours have passed AFTER the time of removal.
