But if people insist, then Madonna is the Queen of Pop by such a long mile that no one can even touch her.
Not only has she been way more consistent with her music and hits than Britney, but she also got people talking by creating controversy surrounding her work and her performances, not her private life or how hot she was.

Sounds like Gaga. Intentional?

What did Britney accomplish during her prime that Gaga is not doing right now?
I can think of things Gaga is accomplishing that Britney didn't.

I didn't even touch Gaga's Grammys/critical acclaim.

Why do people think Britney Spears is the Queen of Pop?
Who thinks this besides her stans? There's only one Queen of Pop, just like there's only one King.

Of course they are. But a crazy dress will not get you as much media attention as shaving your head, attacking the paparazzi, flashing your vagina every time you step out of a car, endangering your children, making out with Madonna, etc.

Because the young teens aren't demanding for a magazine cover of her - that they can jack off over
The girls and gays wanted to be her and the boys wanted to be in her.

Are you serious?
Media was obsessed with Britney since she was a teenager, there is no way to compare it with anyone besides Michael Jackson.
Lady Gaga? Nawt, not even close.

Maybe she's the current Queen of Pop because she sold 75m records in the span of two-and-a-half years? Because she landed six #1s on Pop in a row? Because she's pretty much huge everywhere and one of the most talked about stars around the world? And it looks like she may get even bigger this era because she shattered sales/airplay record with the "dated" single and currently has the longest run at the top for a #1 debut in 14 years?
They're basically the same reasons Britney was the "reigning" Queen a decade ago.

Reductionism? I was just going with what you gave me, Mr.P. And what you just now described, sounds like a fad, not a Queen. I tell you what, if Lady Gaga is still here in 6 years, and still delivering good -- arguably -- music and "changing the industry," then by all means, I will acknowledge that she is a strong force and may be deserving of that title. But right now, P, right now... she's getting by on "style" with no real substance. She's making herself an unnecessary martyr for the gay community and that shtick will expire lickety split. She's getting by on "outrageous" antics and questionable "fashion." Lady Gaga, the character, may be, dare I say, revolutionary to the industry, but her music... her music, is light years away from that. And that's why she's not the Queen of Pop. She's made no significant contribution to the music industry, sonically. "Bad Romance" is what she's known for, and while the video is Gaga's "iconic" video, the song she's most known for, is a passable pop record with no real impact outside of its music video. And we're supposed to consider her The Queen of Pop. Try again.

Ehhh she's not the Queen of Pop.. But she's damn near close to it..
You can't deny her Legacy, her countless number of records speak for themselves..
When Britney came out in the late 90's her hype was HUUUUGE!! Even bigger than Gaga's

The media talked about her b/c, as a hot teenage girl pretending to be a virgin while dressing up as a naughty school girl, people wanted to **** her.
Madonna got as much attention doing controversial things in her performances and in her music, and actually saying something and pushing the envelope.

It's the only thing they can hold onto as stans. The media doesn't even really acknowledge her as such unlike the true queen -

Are there people who actually think that? None of the girls of nowadays come close to Madonna when it comes to that title, you can brag about Forbes, big empires, vocal and dancing talent, Madonna trespassed all that, she impacted the World (and when I say this I don't mean how teenagers started to dress and how they started using piercings on their navel )
