It's all about politics, even for the Oscar... they want to reward people that work hard and show that they are proud and care about their work, and they won't reward even deserving candidates if the voters feel they can do even better and if there is another nominee who is overdue. Regarding personal life, Amy Winehouse was an exception because her troubles fit her image, whereas Britney didn't. Either way, I think it was more of a submission issue with Britney because
Blackout should have been submitted in the Dance fields instead of the Pop fields.
But I really feel Britney will finally get her recognition with
Femme Fatale... also part of the reason why I think the reason why Dr. Luke didn't win Producer of the Year even with a HUGE year because the voters probably waited to reward him for this album if it turns out to be fantastic.
