Look at S&M, its Rihanna's 3rd single, and has had the same promo as Britney, actually less since it doesnt have the hype of being a first single, cause all it has is its video, and it may very well reach a higher peak on pop than HIAM.

Right because Rihanna's S&M hasn't had promo, true.
But did it sell 411K the first week? Exactly my point, S&M is selling steadily and at an okay rate. Besides, radio didn't spin it 5,000 times on its FIRST week. If S&M wouldve been huge its first 3 weeks and Rihanna wouldn't have promoted it, S&M would be on the same road HIAM is.
Just look at BTW, it's gaining great updates, but it's no secret it will peak on radio in about a month. That's the problem with HUGE hyped singles, you release it, and don't promote, the hype WILL go off and the mayority of hyped ppl will have bought it already.
