This is a very good point indeed. "Hit me baby one more time" and "oops! I did it again..." have become household phrases. And I'm fairly certain that nobody can hear the word "Toxic" without having some kind of Britneygasm in the back of their brain. Heck, it was even used in Dr. Who.
She could be selling like there's no tomorrow if she promoted that much. But it's probably a personal choice, though I heard tea that there would be a TV appearance soon?
And she will more than likely resign with Jive because of comfort. A move wouldn't be necessary anyway. As far as being lazy, that has nothing to do with the label. Management controls promotion. She needs a new team for future records.
