I think the quote on homosexuality sounds more like the "what people do in their own bedroom is their own choice, it doesn't affect me" line than anything else. It reads more as an emphasis on personal liberty than making some claim regarding the nature of sexual orientation, but maybe that's just how it appeared to me.
