I have no doubt that the debut sales week for Speak Now will be Taylor Swift's high-water mark.

Gaga has broken some impressive records with her new song, but her overall album sales indicate that a lot of people are just interested in her singles. If she had sold over 6 million copies of her last album, on the other hand, I might be scared.

Beyonce's debuts have all fallen in the mid-six figure range. I'm not sure why that would change now.

Besides, with album sales only trending ever further downwards, 1.3 million in a single week seems practically impossible these days.

It's hard to know for sure. She released an EP, but at the last second made it avail separately...but only in the US. So who knows? What I do know is that the industry treated it as its own body of work and she sort of rewrote the books on EPs.

I actually agree with this 100%, GaGa has a long way to go until she's on the same level as Beyonce. The main problem with ATRL is that people are too focused on the here and now, and they never seem to remember past accomplishments. That's why nobody cares about Whitney, Madonna, Janet etc. because they're not relevant at this moment in time. GaGa may be breaking records now, but she won't always be in such a prominent position.
