Update:  - Britney Spears releases Hold It Against Me. After its first day of release in the United States, "Hold It Against Me" set the record for most radio plays during a first day, registering 619 plays on Mediabase and 595 plays on Nielsen Broadcast Data Systems (BDS). On the issue dated January 29, 2011, "Hold It Against Me" debuted at number one on the Hot 100, making Spears the second artist in history to debut multiple songs at the top of the chart, only behind Mariah Carey. "Hold It Against Me" made Spears the third female artist, behind Madonna and Janet Jackson, to score a number one hit in three decades, as well as the seventh artist overall. "Hold It Against Me" also debuted atop of the Hot Digital Songs chart, with 411,000 copies sold. "Hold It Against Me" debuted at number sixteen on Billboard's Pop Songs chart with 4,071 plays, the highest detections total by a new entry in the chart's history.
- Lady Gaga releases Born This Way. On February 16, 2010, Billboard announced that "Born This Way" reached the number-one position of the Billboard Hot 100. The song became the 1000th number-one single in the chart's history, and the nineteenth song to debut at number one. "Born This Way" is Lady Gaga's eighth consecutive top-ten single, first to debut at number one and third number-one single. The song sold 448,000 digital units in three days, the biggest first weekly digital sales figure by a female artist. The record was previously held by Britney Spears' "Hold It Against Me". It was also the third-highest debut on the Hot Digital Songs chart of any artist. It debuted at number fourteen on Billboard's Pop Songs chart with 4,602 plays after three days of availability, the highest detections total by a debuting song in the chart's history. In addition the song broke the overall airplay debut record with a first week audience of 78.5 million, and a #6 debut on the Radio Songs chart. Lady Gaga also set a new record when she became the first female artist in history to debut at No.1 on the United World Chart (a chart very popular among internet stans, it is run by two germans who like music a lot).
