I understand where you're coming from and I'm not one of those dumbass 16-year olds who praise the 90s even though they weren't even old enough to remember most of it or one of those pompous old guys who want to act like music today is so awful because it's too sexual or whatever, but something about the past few years, particulary 2009 & 2010 have been just so awful in music IMO. It just amazes me to see how many people eat up such tasteless, generic garbage. I mean people are free to like whatever, but it's sad to see people label these songs as epic masterpieces and watch them get nominated for Grammy's and sh*t. Tik Tok and California Gurls are basically carbon copies of each other yet they both went to #1. WTF? I just music to go back to a period to where at least the artists can sing. I mean, I can't even name one Pop artist other than Bruno Mars out there that actually can sing. Everything sounds like a bunch of robots on radio these days. I hope that trend is going to die out.
Thank you
2009 and 2010 have got to be the worst years in the music industry
Anyhoe, the state of R/B songs on itunes is really ridiculous. Even top songs, Trey, Chris, Monica, Fantasia, Jamie, etc. can barely break top 200 let alone top 100. Hell, most of the really great ones are just being pushed off urban radio onto urban ac like tank, the floetry chick. I don't really see that changing anytime soon. So you will have R/B artists collabing with rappers and creating revolutionary pop, rapping themselves and exploring with pop music to be even somewhat relevant mainstream. And I can't really knock it.
These artists need to stop being followers and revolutionize a new sub-genre or some ****. I'm tired of the same **** topping the charts and selling on iTunes. I'm over this dance craze.

Well, the main problem is that there are more pop/dance listeners at this era more than ever, and that is something you cannot ever change it until these listeners die out (and you can't kill people ) and here comes another class of listeners this is the one and only factor !
Just accept the truth and listen to your faves, that's all
I mean some of the blatant stuff bothers me (Derulo, Taio, Jay Sean) but for the most part I can at least enjoy most of the good dance songs. And some are good or at the least intriguing or good ideas I can appreciate. All you can do is support what ya like and don't let the stans of the barely talented make ur fave feel less than perfect. Because they are. To you.
I'll be honest. I miss the days when R&B ruled the charts. When R. Kelly, Monica, Brandy, Usher, Mario, Boyz II Men, DC3, Toni Braxton all had the #1 or #2 spots on lock and it was because of real R&B and not gimmick, generic, pop/dance tracks which all sound the same and repeated.
It is what it is thou. This new generation are all for poppy, gimmick, dance tracks. The era is what the era is. Maybe one day it will change and enough people will get tired of the same old same old.
I miss the R&B era too, but old stuffs have to pass, and new stuffs have to come, who knows what is the next domination genre of music after the collapse of this Pop/Electro-Dance era in the future?

Yeah, maybe. It just same old tracks get tiring after awhile. No one seems to want to switch it up. You know?
Champion just passed Blind Faith, Who's That Chick and S&M on UK itunes
coming for that top 10 spot
****ing Perfect better watch it's back
Damn. The haters are going to be so mad by tomorrow when Chris has two top 10's in the UK and a #2 in the US. The deniers and non-believers won't be able to take!
