Yes,that illegal downloads.
It was reported that Gaga sold 1 billion singles by illegal downloading.
TheFlopJuice use Rihanna to get money in their pocket.People need to stop doing stan-wars there in the Rihanna related topics to stop those 2 hoes Sam and Trent.

Stanning aside, let's be real, though. Rih hasn't really given the US any amazing performance like she did on X-Factor. Yes, the AMA performance was good, but it doesn't compare to the X-Factor performance because she barely sang over the back track on the AMAs. The AMA performance was definitely a step in the right direction, though...I mean she actually did CHOREO. But anyway, I just hope the US gets good vocal performances from Rih from now on. (Hell, I want ANY performance...it's been so long )

Rihanna has never been a huge singles' seller in the US,though.

Although in this day and age eliminating all illegal downloading is almost impossible. Action should have been taken earlier to prevent these consequences.

SIS YESS!!
But we can tell Recovery is one of his best albums in his career. He has a few diamond albums under her belt and seeing how critically acclaimed and commercially appealing Recovery is, it's very possible. 10 years ago, 2x plat is like nothing but now it's already a great achievement, esp. in 2011.
If there's anyone still capable of making a diamond album in 2011, I'd say Britney Spears or Taylor Swift but of course with heavy promo and strategic marketing.

That doesn't really mean anything other than she came first so she had the advantage because she really isn't selling better than Katy/Gaga/Kesha digitally atm.

Back then the digital era wasn't huge. She only has 1 song that it's 4X platinum. (I'm not here for collaborations)

Sadly I doubt we will see any diamond albums any time soon...
However, it will be interesting to see how the monster album sellers (Shania Twain etc) fare in the current music climate. I'm also curious as to how Evanescence will fare aswell. I'm interested, but kinda scared, I really don't want to see my fave artists underperform or flop.

I know.
Her voice has improved significantly over the years. On XF, she was very confident. She was singing in front of Cowell and other judges like she's the best singer (in the world). I really love that about her. She's really comfortable in her own skin and vocal ability
Last week, Cake went #1 on Billboard 200 Album with 44k. Riri could easily snatch that #1 with some promo but she didn't even care (we all know Def Jam is too stupid to grab such opportunity). I believe, #1 albums mean nothing to her. She wants sales>>>>>>>

Yeap, she was definitely the digital Queen back then when Gaga, Katy and Kesha weren't around. She's still doin' relatively well but we know it's inadequate to prove herself as THE digital Queen.
Plus, present >>>>>> past.

I'm not really biased with these things,I put my stanning-side aside and be real.Rihanna,as she's the digital's #1 female artist, should atleast have a 1 5X platinum song by now.Her singles' sales aren't bad,but they aren't good either especially compared to Katy's and Gaga's.
EDIT : I now noticed the record for 3 songs over the 4X platinum certifitcations' shade.
I feel like a fool.

Sis that's unfair coz we all know Katy promotes like crazy and Gaga is on tour non stop..Heavy promo for both.

Plus in 2007 Having a song to go 3x platinum is like having a 6x platinum single in 2010.

Yeap, that's one of the reasons to why it's largely unfair to compare '90 and early '00 album sales to current album sales. Even the big album artists like Usher, Brit, etc are struggling to sell albums in the current market

I think Rihanna has faded out of the limelight slightly... I mean she still gets the amazing sales, but she isn't on everyone's minds, if you get what I mean. Gaga on the other hand is always on people's minds, whether it be for good reasons or bad reasons.
