In terms of new releases, yes. In terms of digital sales, no.

I bet February will be more civil than most think. At this point arguments are so expected, I don't think anyone would be that predictable.

Numerous people saved their gift cards for Britney, and they said as much.

The Gaga stans keep braggin and what not...What they fail to realize about Gaga's first 2 single sales is that it was at a time when she was a SINGLES act. Her album was not selling. People were purchasin the songs in the winter time.
Her songs after that did not meet those sales b/c she started to sell albums.

If GaGa doesn't screw up with BTW (I mean, she's been over-hyping it) the song might break digital records.
Probably the highest one-week single sales for the month of March. (Previous holder is Flo Rida with Right Round, 636,000 copies in debut week, which is also the highest ever).

Would someone really save a giftcard for a couple of months
Anyways, most Gaga fans are Britney fans as well, since they appeal to the same audience. So since Britney's music is coming out first, they'd be the first to spend it on Britney

Oh, I'm not expecting huge sales from BTW first week. BR had tons of hype, Paparazzi had just gone Top 10, & she had everything going for its release. It only did what, 145K? That's not bad but that's very far from amazing, I would've expected at least 175K or more.
My hope for BTW is anything above 250K. Her singles don't peak in their first week, specifically they usually really blow up after the video (Alejandro being an exception because it got mixed receival).

Let's not. All of GaGa's singles have crossed the 2 million mark. It's true that he first two singles have sold far more than her other singles, but it's not realistic to expect all of her singles to be approaching the 6 million mark, especially when fans of other artists are happy to see a single reach half of that mark.

Hate the song with a passion, but I hope it goes number one because too many pop songs hit there.

Did her stans say that or casual fans? Britney was garaunteed an amazing first week.
January is a good month for single sales, album sales are where the music industry is in the pits. The slower months for digital sales are in the middle of spring & fall.

Yes that's the Global market but Bad Romance and Telephone are at nearly 4.5 and 3 million respectively in the States, even with her album sales of 3.5-4 million since TFM's release

BTW is not going to be anything like the release of BR. I don't know why people continue to insist that GaGa can't open with big numbers when this is really the first time that she's expected to. GaGa's an established name now, 250k would be disastrous.

Im not discounting her singles success. but im puttin it in perspective. I see some gaga stans who said "lemme know when your fave can get a 6x plat song" etc. Gaga has sold consistently and well w/ 2-4x plat songs, which is what counts. But people have to understand the circumstances around those 6x plat songs.

Right
I'd expect 300K+ and even that is a little low.

GaGa now is way more popular than she used to be back then. Bad Romance is what made her more popular.

Disastrous would be 200k, 250k is decent.
