Her only competition is Annette Bening, who is truly great in The Kids Are All Right (which did very well - $21M in the US against a $4M budget) because she's old and has never won so they may want to reward her. When's the next chance she'll have such a fantastic role at her age? Whereas Natalie is young and is seen as having more opportunities.

No Natalie whatsoever. Don't get me wrong, i would give the award to Natalie but if Annette wins it's not just based on the overdue factor, she had one amazing performance and most critics are loving it more than Natalie's.
