I think you did a mistake actually. It has nothing to do with the skin color.
Eminem, 2Pac were both were controversial, they got arrested for guns stories and whatever, violent lyrics. Pac was more a gangster and Eminem more like the crazy bad boy **** and the first one sell like 75 million album and the other like 85 million album. When Lil' Wayne goes to jail it doesn't hurt his success trust me. Theses guys aren't the same guy who must smile in front of the camera to look like a nice boy..
Controversy actually help them. They aren't role model (somebody already said that by the way). People like me who listen these guys doesn't care about controversy, we listen them because they are great lyricists. And actually controversy bring them more credibility.
And please don't compare Drake with Eminem. It's two different level. Your Em and Jay comparaison is more accurate. But Em touch more people because his style is more popular : Lose Yourself, Stan, COMC ect are kind of tracks that are more for the masses than Jay-Z's tracks. There are many non rap fans who actually like Eminem's works and they are not like "oh it's because he's white and I'm a racist"... Nope.
By the way there are other white rappers in the game and they are good like Necro, Paul Wall, Asher Roth, Bubba Sparxx. They don't sell ****. Is it because the rap industry is racist ? See what I did there ?
Sorry^ for bringing that back. I won't do it again.
