ERRR?
No...Re-read the posts. Your buddy in Brazil or maybe it was you, stated that Rihanna gets #1's because she's black. Rihanna is not pre-digital era.

Guys I have one question, from 2001 to 2006 I always thought the Rhythmics stations were the ones that dominated (I think it was Urban, Rhythmic & Urbans stations seemed the same to me ) What are the biggest formats now?

right now the biggest format is Pop simply bc its mainstream radios and what everyone listens to !! then its Rhythmic and lastly Urban
Pop > Rhythmic > Urban

Thanks, I was confused, because Rhythmic & Urban playlist looked so similar in the past
But Pop took a back seat from early to mid years in the last decade, I remember in 2004 all #1 songs were R&B/hip-hop and not one single white artist was #1.
I really wonder what happened with radio, because in the 90's and in 2000 the Top 40 mainstream radios REFUSE to play rap, hip-hop and such (and I even think black artist, they only played the mainstream black pop stars like Janet, Mariah, Boyz II Men and some others ) and at the start of the 21st Century everything changed.

The Pop format is the biggest format on radio. A song can be #1 on rhythmic and urban and still not crack the top 20 on the Hot 10. Look at Alicia keys' Unthinkable last year. And yet they say black artisit have an advantage. Ch.....

hmmmm well i do agree with that but also u have to consider that a lot of labels refused to release physical copies of singles back then also so that didnt help pop artists either

LMFAO, DEAD.
I didn't say "you people" as in "black people". But thanks for proving my point, being black or not.
Btw, I'm waiting for my 'warning'. It still hasn't arrived, but if it comes, honestly, I will laugh cause I know very well what I meant and anyone tracking the whole discussion could understand. I pity you for not being able to.

LOL, what a terrible liar.
Please, show me the post where I said she gets #1s because she's black. Or any other member who said that, for what matters.
Stop embarrassing yourself, it's crystal clear you have no argument to back up your, err, "opinion".

I pity you bc you still haven't proven anything w/ your racist rant earlier.
Rihanna has:
More pop #1's
More top 10 pop hits
More songs to cross 100 M AI
More BB hot #1 hits
More digital sales
Than Brit
Being black or not. Sorry

Aaannd that's a wrap. Thank you for showing how she benefits from more than the Pop market and therefore helping my point once again.
Oh, and also for being smart by not saying that, even with "so much more" than Britney, she's still far behind when it comes to success. But yeah, that's not what's being discussed here.

Put an end to the Britney vs Rihanna airplay. Here is how her label sees it, and speaks the true tea
Quote:
Turn on just about any mainstream top 40, rhythmic or urban radio station, and it’s all but guaranteed to have had Rihanna in heavy rotation for half a decade. It’s the first of those formats, however, where she’s had the most success. Since “Pon De Replay,” Rihanna has had 21 entries on Billboard’s Mainstream Top 40 chart, and with six No. 1s, she’s in a four-way tie (with Beyoncé, Mariah Carey and Lady Gaga) for the most chart-toppers in its 18-year history.
This isn’t an accomplishment that her label takes lightly, though Reid believes there’s a catch. “She’s clearly multiformat, but the challenge is, which format is hers? As a recording artist, you can have a hit and be a visitor to each format, but to have true artistic success you have to own it. I think she owns rhythm and top 40, but we do suffer a little because we don’t have urban on lock. When you have a black girl from the islands, you want to have urban on lock. So one of the goals that we had was to not force that, but to try and make records we thought were hits and where she could shine.”
“The challenge is complicated when you’re making music that sonically appeals to a dance/top 40 audience,” WQHT (Hot 97) New York PD Ebro Darden says. “When Rihanna makes music that fits the appeal of hip-hop, we play it.”
Julie Pilat, assistant PD/music director for KIIS-FM Los Angeles, says that Rihanna’s multiformat appeal “seems like more of a strength than a weakness,” adding that the star is “welcomed with open arms wherever she goes.”

Did you or did you not say Mariah exploited herself being black in order to get 18 #1 's ? While comparing that success to Rihanna's , justifying why Brit isnt as successful?
I'm done with you and this argument. Good day.

She's clearly a main Pop artist, and gets Rhythmic when she can.
