The impact caused by Girlfriend can't be compared with the Britney lastest hits...
Girlfriend was a HUGE hit in the whole world... and became an Avril's classic song...
Womanizer, 3 and Gimme More were succesful, but after that they were completely forgotten.

3 did better than Alice and the latter had interviews, performances and a movie to support it.

So? This is not about impact. If it was then, "...Baby One More Time", "Crazy", "Oops!", "Stronger", "Slave", "Toxic", and many more Britney hits have more impact & are numerous classics for Britney. Making your point invalid. Stop comparing and just enjoy your single's success.

Girlfriend was different, shes changed now. When Girlfriend came out, people loved that rock bubblegum pop, i'm not sure about now but good luck to Avril anyways.

Piece of Me - #18 (US) - 1.6 million sold; #2 (UK); #2 (Australia)
When You're Gone - #19 (US) - Gold?; #3 (UK); #4 (Australia)
Just a few countries, surely did better than numerous. And even "Radar" did better than "Hot". LOL.
Remember, this is you and your fellow stan bringing Britney down. Just fixing your mistakes.

That song was a demo, sung by a completely different person. Get your facts together, once again.
Good luck to Avril with a Girlfriend 2.0 that no one is interested in. You should be tired of that by now, as well.
Goodbye.

OMG, this thread is becoming a mess. Stop the Avril vs Britney thing and i'm sure both gurls will be successful in their own way. The Jay Z/West thing is boring to me and i don't care about them. Even we consider they are as a competitor, there still be other 8 spots in the Top 10 for Avril. I don't think it's a big deal

Alice wasnt made to be a Hit, it was made for a MOVIE.
Alice is not a comercial song to sell.

neither were any of her earlier songs. nothing from Avril was commercial until Girlfriend and that didn't stop those songs from being successful. They obviously made the song to be a hit. they had her go out and promote it. that alone says everything.

It's not a rip-off, its called Max Martin and Dr.Luke and that was a demo and it wasn't Britney singing.
It's not like Avril's lyrics are any better anyways...
"HEY HEY, YOU YOU. I COULD BE YOUR GIRLFRIEND!"
