They chose the perfect week to release 3. It all depends on the competiton, when CG premiered it was going against OMG & Airplanes, which were both digital & airplay giants. No smashes like those were dominating in October 09.

I'd say the success of those are noteworthy for Britney. She's not GaGa, Katy or Ke$ha born in the digital era. Besides the moderately impressive numbers for "Piece of Me" & "Gimme More", Brit didn't have a digital career. For the amount of attention she gave the songs outside of a performance, radio and hype, they are noteworthy.

But "Hold It Against Me" and this upcoming era has the chances to break new ground, I agree.

I agree to an extent, but you can't put it all on luck. The significant amount of first week downloads is impressive.

"Womanizer" & "Circus" sales are great. Practically two 3x Platinum singles from a barely promoted album after the first month. "Amy" didn't have a chance to reach full potential due to her tour & controversy, and for obvious reasons "Radar" failed. But then "3" came along and is 2x Platinum.

I mean sure getting a 4x Platinum single would be great, but I think you're exaggerating with "significantly" because her singles did extremely well last year.
