She’s written for Miley Cyrus and Chris Brown, but she’s about to tackle her biggest project yet—writing for Britney Spears. British singer-songwriter Jessie J is set to go in the studio to pen a song for the global pop star.


“I am going in the studio tomorrow to try and write a song for Britney,” Jessie tells Rap-Up.com via phone from her native London. “I was sent a backing track for her album and they specifically asked me to write on it, so I’m going to go in the studio on my night off.”

While she is unable to reveal the track’s producer, she did rule out hitmaker Dr. Luke, adding, “It’s not who people expect it to be. It’s good, it’s very good.”

The 22-year-old is optimistic that she’ll be able to cook up something for Britney’s seventh studio album. “I’m hoping that I’ll be able to crack it,” she says. “It’s a very U.K. kinda sound, which is why I think they want me to write it. I’m gonna put a little Jessie J spin on it and get Britney singing about grabbing her crotch. You never know.”

When writing for other singers, Jessie doesn’t follow a standard routine. “I kinda just go in and don’t put pressure on myself. I go in and play the guitar or the piano. I make sure I can adapt to different people’s situations ’cause obviously not every producer works the same way,” she shares. “I think what makes a good song is delivery, the drama of it. I’ve written a fun, happy, pop song like [Miley Cyrus'] ‘Party in the U.S.A.’ or an emotional, more drawn song like ‘I Need This’ for Chris Brown, so I kinda just go with the flow and if it happens it happens.”

The breakout star has little time to write for other artists these days, as she is busy promoting her thriving solo career. “Right now my diary is so crazy that I don’t even have time to brush my hair in the morning sometimes. My whole world revolves around my project right now, so I’m focusing on that.”

Jessie J’s debut album Who You Are is due out in the U.K. on March 22 featuring the singles “Do It Like a Dude” and the B.o.B-assisted “Price Tag.”

Now that same user is saying that the single hasn't been delayed (assuming he's talking about the 1/7).

Of course take it with a grain of salt. I just want Friday to come and go already so all this speculation can end.

Edit: The same poster also denied the rumors of 'Liberated' as the album title.
