I have friends who watch it all the time and watch really extreme stuff. I think its ok if you are watching the normal stuff but there are some really sick twisted stuff out there thats isnt healthy to watch.

In my Religious Education class we had a really interesting discussion about something to do with this.

The teacher described a situation, in the future obviously, involving a couple that simply could not have children but could clone themselves, either one or both. He asked if we were in a situation like that would we raise a clone as a child rather than adopt someone that was part of neither of the couple or would we think it was too weird and unethical.

I think it would be downright weird. If you cloned your partner then we the clone got older it would be identical to your partner when they were younger, weird **** could happen like...being attracted to it.

I wrote a paper on pros of Human Cloning during high school. Most of the kids were outraged that I would support it, they were making fun, but I didn't care. I got into heated debates and I think I made my opinion heard.

My stance has only gotten stronger since then, I wholeheartedly support anything that takes the scientific progress even further.

I support human replication but I'm afraid it will reach to the point of mass production. Well, probably by the time that happens, I'll be long dead.

Fun fact: Judaism does not oppose it.

I personally fully support therapeutic cloning (cloning cells from tissue/organs/erythrocytes etc) but reproductive cloning (cloning entire organisms)....eh. We just aren't there yet and it may disturb family life.

I'm not fundamentally against it but more research has to be conducted.

That's gonna be difficult if you are ageing and the clone is coming into it's late-teens early 20s.

I don't really know how I feel about this. It is never going to be an exact replica of you. It won't have your memories or experiences and therefore could have a very different personality as personalities are only genetic to a small extent.

I don't see it as unethical if you have the person who is being cloned's consent. I see real issues developing if they start genetically modifying humans although. Imagine being cross-bred with a cow, scary/

My opinion isn't qualified because I lack the research to back it up, so keep that in mind.

I oppose it for one main reason: I think it makes humans seem replaceable when they're not. I know there are opposing ways of looking at it, but that's how I look at it. Also, not to mention all the ethical issues it raises. Are the clones human? What rights are they entitled to? Is it okay to clone just for the sake of cloning, especially if the clones qualify as humans? What if the clone is used to replace humans in some type of working environment? Do actual humans then lose their humanity with the prospect of clones? I have a lot of questions about it.

Jewfro, clones would be humans. Think of it that way.

I don't think they should ever be mass produced because then you get crazy messed up **** like people essentially bringing loved ones back from the dead. But I would like to see if we as a technological and scientific society could achieve it.

People will always always take advantage of such things, it is an incredibly delicate issue.

I agree with the mass produced part but there's no way of assuring that, you know? In my own mind, it would inevitably become that - especially with work-related things. That's why I think it would be better off not to even begin with it.

I agree with what you are saying here but you can't stop progress sadly. Someone will do it. Let's just hope if there ever are clones being mass produced that they have equal rights.

Our population is too high as it is though.

I know. Hopefully I'm old or dead when it happens. I hope they have equal rights as well but we have equal rights issues with actual humans nowadays. It doesn't look too optimistic, in my opinion.

And yes, that's another issue I didn't even think of. I don't know how we would reconcile the replication rate with the tremendous birth rate the world already has.

Haha we have studied this in my medical Interventions class quite extensively, and I have to say that having the idea of making a human clone still is downright unnatural and odd. I mean, come on, we even talked about this one case where this lady lost her daughter and wanted to MAKE A FREAKING CLONE OF HER.

I mean they would be complete humans, they wouldn't abominations. They would be 100% genetically human, they would have free will and emotions in exactly the same way we do.
