Obesity. Such a hard issue. I am obese myself and I've been fighting it for years but only very recently with intensity. I think the problem with obesity is when your body stops being functional and you can't even walk medium distances without having 1000 pains and unable to breathe. The "nutritional pyramid" promoted by the USA and other western countries is wrong by all means. Also cars have a lot to do with it. It's a big problem that will never end, sadly. We can only fight for ourselves and try to have healthy diet and exercise.
Well I'd go further back in time but yes - better transport, less physically demanding jobs and overall less work has led to much more free time.
People utilize much less of their stored energy than they used to. That is one factor causing overweight.
Times are stressful in these instant environment. Majority of us have lost the virtue of patience. And whenever we're STRESSED, a reversal scheme to appease ourselves is always activated. Hence, we would have DESSERTS.

I agree with the rest and hope you'll succeed but do you mean this is wrong? Why?
If, for several generations, the US kills everyone that was obese... then everyone that was left would be the ones with faster metabolism (or those that fear death so much they're willing to exercise and diet properly).
I think we all know what the solution is here
Just say no to the twinkies.
I am not being funny now, I am being totally serious and I'm not trying to offend anyone but when I stay in America over the Summers I am genuinely horrified by some of the foods you guys eat all the time. Some of it is just sickening. Marshmallow fluff, pizza rolls, hot pockets, the cereals. I literally find it hard to buy food that I find edible. It is all so over processed, is it any wonder people have issues. Half of the food there is a heart attack wrapped in a stroke.
I tend to live off of salad, apples, watermelon and plain cornflakes. With ice-cream, cause it's neccessary when you are ginger and its 90 out.

That would fix the US obesity problem.
That would be not only...uhm..be kind of barbaric but pointless because a faster metabolism is not a trait that is necessarily passed on and the fast/packaged food wouldn't disappear.

Agree that cars have a lot to do with it as well as the terrible food pyramid
