AAA = Adult Album Alt, or a halfway point between Alt and Modern AC.
HAC = Adult Top 40 (WPLJ, WTMX, KBIG, KYKY, etc...)
MAC/AAC = Modern/Alt-based Adult Contemporary (The Pulse, WSDD, for example)
AC = Recurrent/Gold-centric, with currents thrown in. Slow chart and Christmas is notorious in Nov-Dec.
Alt = most musically diverse of the rock-based formats. Some are active-leaning (KPNT), indie-leaning (AltNation), or middle of the road (KROQ).
Active = basically hard rock/metal
Mainstream Rock = essentially the same as Active Rock, but more based on the heritage artists such as Rush, Lynryd Skynyrd, Eric Clapton, Tom Petty, etc...
