It has everything to do with the time period. Female rap ISN'T selling in 2010. If Nicki had taken a bunch of risks and ended up with a flop album that critics loved, her career would be dead before it started.

By establishing herself with a commercial album and solidifying her fanbase, Nicki can take more risks in the future.

Nicki has actually praised Kim in previous interviews, but Kim decided to be a whiny bitch and hate on Nicki. Nicki responded in one interview to the diss (Hot 97), that's all I recall. Kim has mentioned Nicki in almost all of her interviews for the past few months. Kim is clearly intimidated by her.

Nicki responded to what Kim started. Kim is still as pressed as she was 10+ years ago, trying to get a rise out of Foxy and anyone else with any hint of talent. Please, Kim, remind us how high your last single peaked? Didn't Nicki debut higher than the peak of your last single, with her last 3 singles? That's what I thought.

Biggie's and Lil Kim's albums were very commercial, but still garnered a lot of success both commercially and critically. Pink Friday could have done both... been a commercial album yet deliver quality. Like I said, it has nothing to do with the time period. Great music comes in every decade.
