I have CS5 as well, but the crashes that have happened to me with that version were getting on my nerves, so I'm went back to using CS4. I think Geezus has had the same problem with CS5 too.

I used Paint Shop Pro 7 (it's free) to learn the basics about editing, effects and stuff.

Adobe's Photoshop is really simple for making gifs tho and the quality is great.

Some are protected and unable for saving though.

Adobe holds the copyright to Photoshop name... What you meant, I guess (and it went misunderstood), was that there are similar softwares to photoshop, by other companies
