Because her album was released in the same week with Susan Boyle, Andrea Bocelli was also there and Adam Lambert had a huge buzz at the time. She ended up outselling Adam by a lot so longevity works. If Beyonce released that week as well she couldnt have beaten Susan Boyle so stop acting like that. Plus we dont care what you say. Good things come to those who wait. Rihanna waited a while to earn all her success after starting out as an underdog. She had to work with her lackluster promotions and reggae albums. FOr you to come in here and draw the "oh she doesnt have a #1 album" card is just pitiful. Look at what she has accomplished w/o a #1 album, doesnt that make you realize that your argument is silly.

I usually say sales are more important than position, it is, for the music freaks like us. But for an "average" person, if you'd tell him that album X sold Y, he'd say: "Why are you telling me this?"

But, if you say, for example - Teenage Dream (album) by Katy Perry went #1. The Fame by Lady Gaga went #2. TD would sound more impressive. If you'd say,

TD by Katy Perry went #1 and sold 500,000 copies, and The Fame by Lady Gaga went #2 and sold 4,000,000 copies, TD would still sound more impressive.

I'm speaking album-wise. People were saying that they'd prefer Rihanna selling over 200K and not going #1. But I think that at this present time and stage in Rihanna's career, it's about time she'd get a #1 album.
